We have a handy little template for this tulip card that you can print out on colored paper and use right away or you can print out on white paper and use as a template.
This is a great Mother’s Day craft activity idea – simply print out the template on colored paper and let the kids make their own Mother’s Day card.
From this idea, you could even make larger tulips (or have your class do it) and use them on your spring bulletin board.
Tulips are truly beautiful flowers and one of our favorite flower crafts.
You can make these cakes in every color of the rainbow – and more, and we’re sure each one will look stunning.
If you want to go all out, you can also make this tulip heart card (one of our favorite ideas for Mother’s Day).
What you need
We do this by cutting a piece of colored letter or A4 sized cardboard or construction paper in half. Then each half is folded in half. Crease the fold to make it sharper.
Cut a piece of white paper, slightly smaller than the card. Glue the white rectangle onto the card – this will give your card a nicer look.
We’ll be using our tulip template as a stencil, but you can also print directly onto coloured paper (quicker and easier). It all depends on what you want your child to do – if tracing shapes is beneficial, then stencils are a good option.
You can also skip the template and let your child cut the tulips themselves.
If using as a stencil – draw around the flower (several times).
Cut out your flower.
You will need a reasonable amount of flowers – the more the better the tulips will bloom. 6-10 is a good number. Younger children can get away with less, while older children can go a little crazy with the number and see what they like best.
You will need to fold all of the flowers in half. You can fold them all at once, by holding them all together and aligning them.
Fold and fold.
Glue the flowers together, one on top of the other.
Cut a strip of green paper and glue it to the card base.
Cut two tulip leaves out of green paper and glue them to the card base.
Glue the tulips…
…and paste it on your card.
