We love bees (I admit I’m a little scared of them too). These cute little creatures are one of the most important bee species in the world. I’m sure you and your kids have heard it said a few times that if bees went extinct, we’d be in big trouble.
Not only are these hard-working insects important, but with their stripes, they are also some of the cutest insects in the insect kingdom.
We’ve shared quite a few bee craft ideas on our site (we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon) but this one might be one of the more fun ones.
They’re super easy to make and if you add a little wire to the ends (and make a big bunch) they look great hanging somewhere to twist and turn in the air.
Are you ready? Let’s get started!
What you need
Optional: vibrating eye patch
Cut yellow and black paper strips. Our paper strips are cut to the length of a regular sized sheet of printer paper (letter or A4) and about a “finger” wide.
Add a little glue to one end of the paper strip.
Glue the remaining strip of paper to the first strip at a right angle.
Now start folding them over each other. Repeat until you reach the end.
Glue the last fold.
Cut off excess paper.
Now cut a pointed triangle out of the black paper and glue it to the bottom of the bee accordion.
Cut out the head with the neck (you will fold the neck over and glue it). Decorate the head.
Glue it on top of the origami bee.
Cut a heart shape from blue paper. Glue to the back.
With thousands of printable crafts, activities, worksheets, coloring pages, and drawing tutorials, you’ll always have the resources you need at your fingertips. Perfect for parents and teachers alike!
