Beetle Paper Hand Puppet Template

Our bug puppet craze continues with this bug paper hand puppet pattern!

There are a million ways to color a beetle so there are literally a million ways to make these homemade puppets.

It’s time for the beetles to join the insect party! You’ll really love these butterfly hand puppets because they flap their wings beautifully.

Our bee puppet and ladybug puppet are also fun to play with. And now that the beetles are here, you’re ready to put on a creepy crawly show.

These, along with other bugs, make great classroom crafts for preschool, kindergarten, and higher grades (you can easily make them with or without our template).

How to make a beetle paper hand puppet

What you need:

  • our printable template (you can find it at the end of this guide)
  • drag
  • glue
  • colored paper or regular paper (or markers if you are coloring in the template)
  • printer

Optional: glitter, vibrating eye patches

Or follow this step-by-step tutorial on how to make this beetle paper hand puppet

Print our templates. Regular printer paper will work, although it’s best to print on thicker printer paper.

If you want to color our template, we recommend coloring it before cutting, this definitely makes things easier.

No need to keep it within the limit ;).

Cut out all the pieces.

If you are using a template as a stencil – trace the parts onto cardboard – body on black, “wings” on whatever color you want, legs on black (these colors are completely up to you). Glue the “wings” onto the body.

Cut leg.

Fold the legs – accordion style. This will make them wobbly and more whimsical.

Glue them to the bottom of the beetle body.

Attach the strap to the bottom of the body.
