We think homemade gifts are the best, and if kids make them (and they are useful 🙂 ) then they get something extra. This little project is easy for kids to do, and since it is a festive decoration, it will be welcomed by family members and close friends.

Christmas tree candle holders kids can make

What you need:

  • green paint (the more shades the merrier)
  • glasses (tall glasses, thin glasses, sundae glasses… You can usually buy these at dollar stores)
  • red, blue and yellow craft paint
  • Black Shapie
  • foam paint brush
  • small paintbrush
  • drag
  • Low temperature glue guns – children can easily use them
  • yellow felt

Pour paint onto a paper plate and line the craft surface with old newspaper.

Paint both the inside and outside of the cup with the green paint mixture and let dry.

Apply a second coat to the glass and let dry.

Once the glass is dry, use your fingertip dipped in blue, yellow, and red paint to paint lights onto the green glass and let dry.

Connect all your colored lights using a Sharpie marker by drawing a circle to connect them all.

Now cut a few circles from the yellow felt and glue them to the bottom of the glass base with hot glue.

Place a tealight candle (we recommend LED) into the base of the glass for decoration. Your Christmas tree candle holder is ready to display or give as a gift.
