Start by mixing the dry ingredients including flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Mix well.

Add water and oil.

Add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture. Mix well.

Continue mixing until you get a uniform mixture. If you are not satisfied with the intensity of the color, continue adding food coloring.

Cook over medium heat for a few minutes. Stir constantly until it reaches a play dough consistency.

Remove from heat but be careful as it will still be hot. Set aside to cool.

Once cool, roll into balls and store in a ziplock bag or airtight container until needed (refrigerate).

You have completed your first batch!

Now repeat all the steps with the second color (and all the other colors) until you have the required number of colors.

For a little extra magic, roll the dough in biodegradable glitter before playing.

Now, all that’s left to do is let your kids play with their homemade rainbow play dough.
