Fall is the time when hedgehogs shine! This little paper hedgehog craft is great for kids who already have good fine motor skills (most preschool-aged kids can complete this project).
What you need:
Start by folding a sheet of brown paper, it can be square or rectangular.
Make folds along the length of the paper (for those versed in origami terminology, make valley and mountain folds).
Once you have a paper accordion, press it together and fold it in half. Glue the halves together to form a paper fan.
Draw the shape of a hedgehog’s head and cut it out of paper.
Draw the details and add a nice eye (or draw the eye).
Let’s make a grass scene! Cut out a circle for the background (any other shape will work but circles look cool). Cut grass shapes from green paper or different types of green paper and glue them onto the circle.
Cut off excess paper.
Paste the hedgehog’s head onto the background scene.
Apply glue (white school glue or glue gun is best) onto the folded paper fan.
Press it into the background, carefully aligning it with the head. Hold it in place for a while to let the glue set.
Hedgehogs are often depicted carrying apples, other fruits, leaves and flowers on their spines – Although this is not something they actually do, adding a flower (or an apple) to the game This hedgehog play is a fun addition.
All has been done! Your easy origami hedgehog creation is complete and ready to display.
This is a great project to do in the classroom because it will make a fun bulletin board.
With thousands of crafts, activities, worksheets, coloring pages, and drawing guides to print, you’ll always have the resources you need at hand. Perfect for both parents and teachers!
