How to draw dinosaurs step by step

In this tutorial, we will teach kids how to draw a dinosaur that looks like a T-rex or a Velociraptor – two of the most popular dinosaurs today. The steps are really easy to follow, just like our other drawing tutorials, so the end result is always great. You can try it too, because drawing cartoon dinosaurs is not that difficult.

Step 1

We will start this T rex drawing by drawing the head. Start at the right end and make an “egg-like” shape, not a full egg shape.

It doesn’t have to be identical or perfect; it can be more square, round, or oval, and the finished product will still be just as great.

Step 2

Next, let’s draw a face – we’re going to draw a cute dinosaur, not a scary one. Draw an eye and a curved line above the eye (like an eyebrow). Draw a line for the mouth and create a nostril above the mouth line.

Step 3

Finish the face by drawing sharp teeth below the mouth.

Next is the neck. Continue the right line and create a curve, like a circular bracket, on the left side.

Step 4

You can’t draw a dinosaur, especially a T-rex, without cute hands. Draw a hand. When you’re done, draw a line for the back.

Step 5

Next is the hind legs.

Step 6

Bring it all together by drawing a curve for the belly and drawing the tail.

Step 7

You already know how to draw legs, so let’s draw the legs in the back.

Step 8

Now draw straight lines along the belly line, from the head all the way to the tip of the tail.

Step 9

Decorate! Draw lines on the belly and stripes or spots on the back to give texture to your cute dinosaur drawing.

Step 10

Congratulations! You’ve learned how to draw a dinosaur! All that’s left to do is color your drawing (and draw more dinosaurs).
