Drawing doesn’t have to be difficult and guided drawing tutorials are a great way to build the drawing confidence that some children lack. Flowers are especially fun and although they may seem difficult to draw, they can be drawn quite easily, so be sure to check out our rose drawing tutorial as well as our tulip drawing tutorial.
What you need:
Start by drawing a small circle. Circles can be difficult to draw, but the circle doesn’t have to be perfect.
Draw a larger circle around the first shape. There are no rules regarding size as there are many types of sunflowers, some with larger inner seed rings and others with smaller seeds.
Draw small dots inside the smaller circle – these are the seeds. Start by drawing the first set of petals. Draw four of them.
Draw another set of petals, next to the first ones.
And another one. Depending on the size of the circle and the size of the petals, you may need to draw more. Don’t worry about the space between the petals.
Draw a small V shape between the two petals. This adds a layer of sunflower petals (bottom).
Draw a tree trunk. Also, draw lines for the leaves. Depending on when you created the stem, you may have just one, two, or even more of these lines.
Draw a teardrop leaf shape.
Add details on the leaves. Congratulations, you have learned how to draw sunflowers.
The only thing left to do is bring life to your sunflower drawing with some coloring.
