What you need:
Start with a square piece of paper (origami or regular apple colored printer paper).
Fold diagonally (both sides).
Open up. Now, bring one corner to the middle.
Bring the same corner to the top.
Bring the opposite corner to the top. You will now have a hexagon-like shape in front of you.
Take the right corner and fold it to the top (fold starts from the middle).
Repeat the folding process with the wrong side to create a heart shape.
Turn the paper over.

Fold one of the top corner points down.
Repeat the process on the other side.
Next, fold the left and right corners inward.
Turn the paper over.
Have your child fold the bottom part back to complete the apple shape.
Now we just need to add some non-origami details to this project.
Cut leaf shapes from green paper.
Cut a rectangle from brown paper to make the trunk. Glue the leaves onto the stem.
Now, ask them to glue the stem and leaves to the back of the apple.
