Paper Cone Santa Craft – Christmas Crafts for Kids

I am so happy to show you this little craft – we made a paper Santa hat – this is such a cute Christmas craft for kids.

You can put this guy under the tree, on a shelf or anywhere!

Paper Santa Crafts – Christmas Crafts for Kids

What you need

  • red paper (2 sheets)
  • Paper hat template – get it here –> Hat template
  • 1 sheet of white paper
  • black paper for boots
  • beige paper for face
  • glue
  • drag
  • black marker

Print the cone template onto red paper (I used a piece of paper that was red on both sides). Cut out the template. Fold along the dotted lines and add glue to the “overhangs”. Roll it into a cone and hold it for a moment to let the glue work.

Cut 4 long strips of red paper (for the legs and arms), two red gloves, a bunch of white strips (I had 10), two black boots, and a beige half-moon for the face.

Now to assemble this adorable Santa craft. Glue the black boots to the top of the red strips. Cut one of the white strips into small pieces and use them to decorate the boots. Glue red mittens to the remaining two red strips. Decorate with the white strips.

Draw the facial details on the semicircle. I used a light pink blush for my cheeks and thought it worked really well. Draw the eyes with a felt tip pen.

The beard is the fun part. Take the white strips (leave them as they are for the hat) and curl them with scissors (if you don’t know how to do this here is the “how” with other methods without scissors if you don’t want to do this technique with your kids but I should note that this was one of the most fun things I ever did as a kid and no ribbon was safe for me once I mastered the “art of paper bending”).

Now glue all the details onto the paper cone. Start by making the rim of the hat. To glue it in a nice circular shape, you will have to cut the strip into a few smaller strips and glue them separately (I needed 3 strips).

Now glue the face on and start gluing the rolled up paper strips.

Final glue on legs and arms.

And that’s our adorable paper Santa craft – a cute Christmas craft for kids and you can even add pine trees, elves, deer…
