This winter craft is great to do at home or in the classroom. This is a fun project to add to your winter gear because it’s one that doesn’t require much preparation.
What you need:
Print out the penguin template. There are more sizes to choose from.
Have children color the printable.
We used crayons but your child can also use other coloring tools.
Tip: if you use watercolors, be sure to print the pattern on cardboard.
Once they’re happy with the look of their penguin, it’s time to move on to the next step.
Cut out the colored penguin along the outline.
Take light blue (or other color) cardstock – this will be the background.
You can let the kids design the background first or just stick the penguin in the middle, leaving some space at the bottom for the snowy ground.
We paint the environment, but this craft also allows the use of other materials such as torn paper to create it.
Ask them to draw some wavy lines so it looks like a snowy landscape.
Next, ask the children to create snowflakes on a blue background.
Children can use the tip of a paintbrush or their fingers to create small dots that resemble snowflakes falling from the sky. We used a paintbrush to do this trick.
All has been done!
Let your craft dry completely before handling or displaying it.
Does this penguin in the snow look cute?
Have fun crafting and painting!
