The holidays are approaching and we love making Christmas crafts (check out our Moveable Paper Doll Christmas Photo Craft and DIY Pop-Up Christmas Cards).

We do this every year, and the warmth, excitement, and happiness continues – you know, it never gets boring.

This Christmas, we want to share these adorable reindeer paper toys with you. So you can put them under the Christmas tree – a whole herd of reindeer.

You will make everyone’s day bright and cheerful.

So, who wants to receive a homemade surprise gift box for Christmas?

Let’s go!

How to make paper reindeer toy

What you need:

  • brown cardboard (patterned)
  • brown cardboard (smooth)
  • red paper (or a red pom-pom)
  • white cardboard
  • black pencil
  • drag
  • glue
  • circular ruler

Step by step instructions

Draw or print out the box template you will need for the project.

Draw the same box pattern on brown (patterned) cardboard.

Use scissors to cut it out.

Fold the paper at the line.

ONLY apply a little glue to the parallel folds you see in this picture (my three fingers press into the folds and the glue stick will show you where to apply glue).

Reassemble the box and wait for the glue to cure.

Close the box.

Take a smooth brown cardboard and draw two antlers.

Use scissors to cut them out.

Make a fold on each piece of gauze.

Apply some glue to the gauze and stick them to the box (stick one to the left and one to the right side of the box).

Draw two circular eyes and cut them out with scissors.

Keep your eyes on the box.

Take a piece of red paper and shape it into a small ball.

That will be the reindeer’s nose. You can even use a red pom-pom for the nose instead of a piece of paper.

Put some glue on the red nose and stick it in the middle of the box, between the eyes.

This is what our reindeer looks like. Now you can put some treats inside the box or a Christmas message.

We like to keep snacks inside.

Done – this was a piece of cake!

Great!

Happy crafting!
