Snowmen are a great project for a Christmas or winter theme.

Now if you ask me, making a real snowman out of snow is still the best and most fun activity kids can do when it comes to snowmen, but sometimes the weather just doesn’t allow it. Whether it’s too warm or too cold, or if you just want your snowman to last longer than the winter, this is a fun alternative.

Christmas paper plate crafts are a great classroom activity because they are inexpensive and can be turned into an art lesson if you don’t just focus on one project, but give your kids plates, materials, and a Christmas theme to work with. However, I hope you find some inspiration in the ideas we share!

The Christmas season is a time for making memories with family or friends, and making Christmas crafts with kids is one of the best ways to spend time together.

How to make a seesaw Santa Claus from a paper plate

What you need:

  • a paper plate (one paper plate will make two snowmen)
  • drag
  • glue
  • black marker
  • orange paper for nose
  • black paper for hat
  • colored paper for scarves

Any other decorative materials are welcome, a little silver or blue glitter glue can create a nice snow glitter effect.

Follow the step-by-step instructions

Fold the paper plate in half. Cut along the fold to create two equal pieces.

Take half of a paper plate and roll it into a cone shape.

Apply glue to one end and stick together into a cone shape.

Hold firmly until the glue dries.

I often use clothespins for this job and continue to do crafts.

Draw eyes and buttons with black marker.

Cut out a carrot nose shape from orange paper.

Apply a smaller amount of glue and tape the nose under the eye.

Draw the mouth with a black marker.

Cut a scarf from scrap paper.

Glue it to the snowman on the paper plate.

Cut out a hat shape from black paper.

You can decorate the hat with “paper ribbon” if you want.

I think it looks so classy this way.

Glue the hat onto the snowman made from crepe paper plate.

Have fun playing with this swinging paper plate snowman.

Fun to make and even more fun to play with! Did you enjoy making this? Why not try a paper plate penguin craft or a paper plate Santa craft too!
