Love is in the air! Today we’re going to show you how to make a yarn heart. This craft idea is great for kids and adults alike, making it one of the best Valentine’s Day crafts ever.

Yarn Wrapped Heart Craft – Valentine’s Day Craft Ideas for Kids

What you need

  • yarn (red, pink or any color really)
  • carton
  • drag
  • transparent tape
  • pencil

Draw a heart shape on cardboard. You can draw the heart shape yourself using a cookie cutter or draw the heart shape by hand.

Cut out the heart. It can be a little tricky to cut out, depending on the scissors (ours aren’t the best in the world), so it’s best to leave it to an adult.

Wrap the yarn around the heart and tie a knot. Secure with clear tape.

Start wrapping the yarn around the cardboard heart. Continue wrapping the yarn in all directions, until you have a nice “big, thick” heart. When you are happy with the shape of your heart, tie a knot.

You can even add some yarn and make a loop to hang it, in case you want to use these yarn wrapped hearts as decorations.
