3D Christmas Tree Card

This 3D Christmas tree card is a fun project for all ages! Little kids will love making it and it’s cute enough that older kids and adults will enjoy it too.

We made this in classic green, however there is no limit to the colors your child can use to make this project.

Making Christmas cards is still one of our favorite things to do at Christmas. It’s an inexpensive way to show someone you care, and a handmade card really means a lot.

There is also the opportunity to create memories with your children.

A special message inside the card also goes a long way (sorry for our generic message 😉).

How to make 3D Christmas tree card

What you need:

  • blank card or make one from a piece of paper
  • green paper in various shades (either just one color, or several colors)
  • paper for star
  • drag
  • glue

Step by step instructions

First, you need to create a triangular mold for the tree.

It needs to be smaller than the card. If working with small children, an easy way to make the triangle smaller is to cut a rectangle the same size as the card.

Ask them to fold the green rectangle in half.

And cut out the “tree” shape.

This way both halves of the tree will be identical.

You have a nice triangle here.

Now use this triangle to cut out a series of other triangles.

You can draw around it or cut around it. Whichever way works best for you or your child.

If not already folded, fold the triangles in half.

Apply glue to one of the triangles (half only)…

And stick another one in there.

Continue gluing the other triangles in the same way.

Cut a star shape out of paper (gold or glitter paper will work) and glue it onto the card.

Apply glue to half of the tree, press down onto the card, top touching the star.

Apply glue to the remaining half…

And paste it on the card.

Spread out the papers.

Done! Your 3D Christmas tree card is finished and ready for a special note.
