When spring comes, bees are indispensable! You will see them everywhere!

Now is your chance to prepare your family for spring with your very own clay bee.

How to make a bee in a clay pot

What you need:

  • clay cup or yogurt
  • bonding primer
  • yellow acrylic paint
  • paint brush
  • colored paper (yellow and red)
  • drag
  • pencil
  • glue
  • black pipe cleaners
  • sharp eyes
  • black furball
  • black and brown marker pen

Step-by-step instructions

Paint the yogurt cup with bonding primer, when dry it will be painted yellow.

The yellow yogurt cup will represent the bee’s body.

Kids will have a lot of fun with paint, but they may need some help with this part of the craft.

On yellow paper, draw two wings.

Cut off the wings.

Draw stripes on them with a black and brown marker so that the yellow paper in the middle is visible.

Glue googly eyes onto a black fur ball.

Go ahead and cut two smaller pieces of black chenille.

Glue them onto the pompom.

Cut the chenille pieces.

Draw the mouth on red paper.

Cut it out and then glue it to the pompom.

Cut six small pieces of black chenille for the legs.

Glue the chenille legs to the top of the yogurt cup.

Now let’s glue the wings on the top of the yogurt cup.

You will also want to glue the tip of the pom pom to the top of the yogurt cup.

Your clay pot bee is finished!

It’s ready for hours of play and excitement all around!

If you have some clay or yogurt pillars, you can create an entire honeycomb!

We thought we turned out perfect.

Have fun!
