How to make a curly beard craft for Santa Claus

What you need:

  • our printable template (optional) or hand-drawn Santa
  • white printing paper
  • cardboard in any color of your choice
  • drag
  • glue

Step-by-step instructions

Start by cutting strips of paper. We made them about a finger width (half an inch) and cut them along the longer side of the letter/A4 sized paper.

If you are doing this in the classroom and want to make the paper strips ahead of time, we recommend using a good paper cutter as it will make the job go a lot faster than using scissors . But both are fine. The paper strips also do not have to be the same width or length.

Place it on top of the construction paper and gently create a border around the head (you don’t need to create a border around the hat.

This will make it much easier to stick the paper strips in place.

Apply glue directly onto the construction paper or on one end of the paper strip.

Glue the strips onto the construction paper, following the outline you drew with the pencil.

Wait for the glue to dry. Once dry, take the first strip of paper and roll it a few times to form a ball.

Apply glue to the end of the curl and stick it on the paper.

Leave it for a while to let the glue harden and move on to the next beard.

If working with younger children, you can also ask them to just crinkle the paper strips or have them make zig zag folds.

Apply glue to the back of Santa’s head.
