How to Disguise Turkey Dinosaurs

What you need:

  • our dinosaur turkey camouflage printable (grab this freebie at the end of this tutorial or get the whole set with over 25 different turkey costumes)
  • color supplies
  • drag
  • glue

You can make this project with regular printer paper or with thicker printer paper/cardboard.

Step-by-step instructions

Start by printing all the pages you need (there are two ways you can do this). This project can be done in the classroom or you can have your child do it at home with their parents as part of their homework.

Part of this template is an undisguised turkey so your child will color one of the sheets to look like a regular turkey; Brown, yellow, red and orange are perfect for work.

Next up is a turkey disguised as a dinosaur. You will need a sketch of the turkey; Have children color it with dinosaur colors; There are no rules here because we don’t actually know what color dinosaurs were.

Also, let your child color the dinosaur makeup. We’re going to disguise this turkey as a Triceratops.

Now cut out the dinosaur costume parts as well as the turkey that you colored the dinosaur.

It’s time to disguise! Apply glue to the camouflage parts, ideally starting from the head.

And stick it on the turkey.

Continue with other disguise parts until the turkey is completely camouflaged like a triceratops.

Now, take the printout that you’ve colored to look like a regular turkey: the printout with text or the printout with a small rectangle on top. Both prints have dashed lines on them; fold along that line.

Make magic happen

Glue; For prints with text, apply glue just below the turkey. For small rectangular prints, apply glue to the folded rectangle.

Take the turkey disguised as a dinosaur and stick it on top, making sure it covers the real turkey underneath. Pretty cool, right?

All has been done! You can also add the writing papers included in this page to disguise a turkey as a dinosaur printable.

Now, let the magic happen. One moment, one dinosaur, and with one page turn…

An undisguised turkey will appear.
