What is your child’s favorite bug? If you asked them to name five, we’re almost certain that ladybugs would make the list, at least for most kids. If ladybugs aren’t on the list (and we’d be surprised by that), we have lots of other fun bug craft ideas for your kids to explore.

How to make easy ladybug paper crafts

What you need:

  • Construction paper comes in many different colors
  • drag
  • glue
  • black marker
  • Wiggle eye patch or bleary eyes

Step-by-step instructions

Prepare all the supplies.

Cut a small rectangle from red paper. Size doesn’t matter as long as it is rectangular. Draw black dots with a marker.

Begin folding the paper, creating mountain and valley folds along the longer side of the rectangle.

After folding all the way to the other side, fold the folded rectangle in half.

Glue or staple the ends together.

Optionally make two ladybugs.

Now cut a small paper circle from black paper for the head. Apply a small amount of glue to the circle and stick the folded paper on it to make the body of the ladybug.

Add a pair of googly eye stickers or googly eyes.

Cut two small strips (two for each ladybug) from black paper to make antennae. Roll it up and stick it on the ladybug’s head.

Give these ladybugs a scene where they can shine. Cut the grass shape out of green paper.

Also, prepare the background. We created a white circle for the background.

Glue the paper grass onto the circle (or other wallpaper) and cut off the excess if necessary.

To make this one really stand out, we also added a blue background.

Apply glue to the back of the ladybug and stick it on the scene.

Add another one and you’re done!

We hope your kids will enjoy making this easy origami ladybug craft.
