How to draw an easy Halloween cat painting

What you need:

  • pencil
  • orange construction paper
  • tempera or acrylic paint (black, purple and yellow)
  • paint brush
  • marker with white chalk or white paint

Grab your tools and follow our “how to draw a cat easily” tutorial for a stress-free painting experience.

Step-by-step instructions

Take a sheet of orange construction paper. You can draw the outline of the cat with a pencil, or you can skip this step and start drawing right away. Start with an oval shape for the head and work your way from there.

Step 1

Use black paint and color the oval for the head.

Draw two triangles for the cat’s ears.

Step 2

Draw an oval for the body.

Next, paint two ovals on the bottom of the cat’s body to make the cat’s paws.

Step 3

Paint the cat’s tail.

Step 4

Wait for the paint to dry.

In the next step, you can make a quick sketch with a pencil – draw the inner ear, eyes, nose and mouth. Or you can just paint without detailed sketches.

With purple paint, the color is in the inner ear. Also, draw an oval for the nose.

Step 5

Paint the semicircle of the eye with yellow paint.

If you’re working with younger children, you can ask them to paint a yellow circle first and cover it with black paint later.

Step 6

Use a white marker to draw the mouth and claws.

Step 7

Your Halloween cat is done!

Step 8

We hope this Halloween cat drawing tutorial will be a simple and fun Halloween art project that kids can easily make for Halloween.
