How to make easy crafts from caterpillar yarn

What you need:

  • construction paper
  • drag
  • glue
  • yarn
  • black marker
  • sharp eyes

Step-by-step instructions

Get ready to create a cute yarn caterpillar with your child!

We’ll need a base. You’ll need a heavier paper – cardstock or even cardboard from a cereal box (or just regular cardboard).

You can let the kids draw an outline with a pencil or just freehand draw their caterpillar. Start by applying glue to the paper: create a circle with glue.

Take the thread and carefully start placing it on the area to be glued.

Roll it onto the glue in a circular motion to create a thick spiral for the head.

Continue creating the circle by applying more glue if needed.

Look at the shape of the caterpillar’s head!

Once the caterpillar’s head has reached the desired size, have your child cut off the excess fiber. Gently press the yarn down so it really sticks to the paper.

Make the body in the same way (the circles can be the same size or slightly smaller).

Use a black marker to draw the beard.

Also draw legs under each body segment.

Let’s give this creature some personality!

Glue the googly eyes onto the caterpillar’s head.

Apply a small amount of glue and let your child create the caterpillar’s mouth using a small piece of orange yarn.

And there you have it – your easy, adorable yarn caterpillar craft is complete!

You can display it proudly and cherish the memories you made working on this lovely spring project together!
