Color by number activity sheets are often used to help children practice number recognition. However, they are also excited to see how the image will reveal itself.

I also find that these types of coloring activities are a great choice for kids who are having trouble getting started with coloring because they can’t decide which colors to use! Sometimes just having some direction to get started. After that, children can freely recreate the pictures with their own colors!

At the very least, I usually like to create a few options for people with children of different ages and abilities.

Easily print color by number autumn leaves

This simple color by number requires only five colors that you can usually find in any standard pack of colored pencils, the coloring area is larger, and most of the shapes are simpler.

Pumpkin colors can be printed by numbers

This fall color-by-numbers worksheet still only requires five different colors (all of which are standard colors you’ll find in a box of crayons). However, this print has more lines as well as some smaller and more complex shapes, making it a great choice for slightly older kids.
