Let the kids use their fingers as paintbrushes and make this adorable fingerprint Christmas ornament card – it’s a sweet and personalized DIY card. And most importantly, it’s very easy to make!
You can use up any ribbon from gifts you’ve received or, if you don’t have any on hand, swap out the ribbon with a line drawing (a black marker works great).

You don’t need to use fingerprints at all if your child doesn’t like finger painting. Q-tips or pencils with erasers work extremely well for this project.
Isn’t that sweet?
You can also play with color – make it as colorful as you want or even just stick to one color.
How to make Christmas decorative cards with fingerprints
What you need:
- drag
- glue
- construction paper (brown and white)
- white paper
- ink pads – various colors (you can also use finger paint)
- red ribbon
Step-by-step instructions
Have your child fold a piece of brown construction paper in half to create a card.
Cut a white square to make a canvas for your child’s little masterpieces.
Let the little ones get into the fun part – finger painting!
They can start with red paint (or any other) and watch as they create small dots on the white square.
It’s time to get creative with different colors.
Why not add some blues and greens.
We have added more colors.
Just remember to let it dry before continuing.
After the paint dries, cut a circle from the colorful square.
It will be a Christmas ornament for the card.
Have your child glue the bauble to the center of the front of the card.
Take a red ribbon and have your child glue it to the card above the ornament.
Trim the excess ribbon.
You can also make a cute bow from red ribbon and glue it to the top of the decoration.
It’s time to sit back and admire your child’s unique fingerprint Christmas ornament card!
Now they have a unique handmade card to give to someone special this holiday season.
Merry Christmas!
