This fingerprint salt dough Christmas tree ornament is a quick and easy microwave craft that makes a great keepsake and gift!
I shared a salt dough ornament stamped with pine a while ago so we can keep up with the “Christmas Tree” theme.
Fingerprint Salt Dough Christmas Tree Ornaments
A quick and easy microwave fingerprint ornament that makes a great keepsake and gift! (See link for salt dough recipe here)
How to make this souvenir
Mix the salt dough recipe and knead into a soft round ball.
Use a rolling pin to roll the dough into a block about 1/2 thick.
Using a tree shaped cookie cutter (or freehand cutter!)
Cut to the amount you need, recipe should make at least 5 depending on the size of your cutter.
Use a round object to punch a hole in the top, which you will use to thread the ornament through.
Ask each family member to press lightly on the tree to leave their fingerprint.
When adding fingerprints, try to imagine them as tree ornaments and scatter them around. (refer to photo)
Place the tree on a piece of parchment paper and microwave for 15 seconds. Repeat for another 15 seconds until the dough is firm.
Allow to cool completely before painting.
Choose a color to paint the tree, let dry.
To make fingerprints, apply paint to your finger and press lightly in the spot where each family member pressed before cooking.
