Give Your Old Umbrella a New Look

Do you have an old umbrella with a boring look? Why not give it a makeover and have a “new” fancy looking umbrella in no time!

This is a great DIY project for both adults and kids!

Give your old umbrella a new look

You will need an old and dull looking umbrella, waterproof paint (acrylic paint is great but you can also use textile paint or if young children will work on this project with textile markers), brush – paintbrush A sponge is best for this project, a crafting knife or if you have a cutting machine (like Silhouette) would be even better.

If you have the same motivation as me then you can use my templates

Once you’ve cut out the stencil, we can get started and have fun!

Open the umbrella and use tape to secure the stencil wherever you want. Now, if you’re working with a detailed stencil like me, you’ll also need to use your fingers to press it down (unless you’re making the stencil on self-adhesive paper), which you’ll be painting over so the paint doesn’t smudge. . under the stencil. Slowly work your way across the entire stencil. Depending on the color (both paint and umbrella), you may need to apply multiple coats of paint. And you’re done! Now rinse and repeat as many times as you like!

Note: Do not dilute the paint with water because umbrellas are sneaky (they do what they are supposed to do) and repel water.

That’s it, you just gave your old umbrella a new look! Quite strange, isn’t it?
