We had so much fun making these silly little creatures – we made a bat, a mummy, a jack-o-lantern and a vampire. But why stop at these, you could just as easily make a black cat out of clay, a Frankenstein monster, a witch, a skeleton, a ghost or any other ghoul.
Let your imagination guide you.
Ready? Grab your brush and let’s get started!
I really like the shape of the bat.
Mummies and pumpkin lanterns look great too.
Materials:
If you have clay pots lying around, wash them to remove dust.
For the Jack o Lantern, paint the pot orange. Depending on the type of paint, it may take more than one coat.
Allow the paint to dry completely before proceeding with the next steps.
Draw a Jack o Lantern face with chalk.
Fill with black paint.
Let it dry and you’re done.
Here’s how we sketched out the vampire…
…and our mummies…
And finally the bat.
For the bat, cut two wings out of black craft foam (if you don’t have black foam, paint it black) and glue them to the side of the clay jar.
