Handmade Reindeer Christmas Card

As the holidays approach, there’s nothing like the joy of making handmade cards to share with loved ones. Today, we’re sharing instructions for making a simple handmade reindeer Christmas card for your kids to make.

This one has a bit of a 3D effect, so even though it won’t fit in the envelope it will add some festive fun. We have another super simple reindeer card idea that’s a little similar to this one but will fit perfectly into an envelope.

This is also a fun Christmas craft for children to make in class as a gift to take home to their parents.

How to make handmade reindeer Christmas cards

What you need:

  • drag
  • glue
  • construction paper (light brown and light green)
  • colored paper (dark brown)
  • White paper
  • black marker
  • red pom-poms

Step-by-step instructions

A card

Start by making the base for the card. If you do this with young children, you can use a whole sheet of paper for one card. For older children, cut the paper in half, making two cards from one sheet of paper.

Fold the construction paper in half. The base of the card is completed.

Cut a U shape from light brown paper to make the deer’s body. The shape cannot be more than half the height of the card.

Stick the camera body onto the card.

Cut a wide strip of paper – it should be as long as the card (a little longer or shorter is fine)

Loop and glue the ends together.

Now glue the paper ring to the card, right above the body.

Take a sheet of darker brown paper to make gauze – fold it in half.

Have children draw a picture of a deer on folded paper and cut it out.

They will receive two swabs.

Glue the fishing rods above the head.

Cut out two ear shapes and glue them onto the card.

Add eyes, have kids use googly eyes, googly eye stickers or white paper circles.

If they are using paper circles, have them draw black dots to complete the eyes.

Reindeer need a nose, so let your child take a red pom-pom and stick it on his face.

All has been done!

Now, kids can add personal messages inside.

Merry Christmas!
