Peacock Handprint Salt Dough Crafts for Kids

Peacock Handprint

Raw materials

  • Salt dough recipe
  • Engraving tools
  • Craft Paints & Brushes
  • Wax Paper
  • A cute little hand
  • Cookie sheet
  • Rolling pin (or cup!)

Instruct

Preheat oven to 250. Roll out salt dough to about 3/4 inch thick. Press participant’s hand down firmly to create an imprint, lift hand away. Use your carving tool of choice to trim around the edges of the imprint, leaving no outline. Use your fingers to create beak and feathers on top of head Bake in oven for about 1-2 hours or until handprint is firm Let cool

To paint:

Use turquoise to paint the entire hand, let dryUse green to paint the bodyPaint dark blue and purple on the fingers (peacock feathers) and face using our photo as a reference. Let dryFor the peacock “eyes”, use a fingerprint!Press the tip of your finger into the yellow and print it onto the tip of each “peacock feather”, let dryRepeat with blue on yellow
