Today we’re going to make a simple hedgehog pop up card for kids (preschoolers and even younger kids can make this card too).
Are you ready for this fun fall project? Let’s get started!

We love crafts that stand out, and after our fun peacock pop-up card, we thought of a hedgehog too.
This product is super easy to make and perfect for kids who want to create their own (first) pop-up card (we’ll be releasing a more complex product soon).
This project is also great for introducing kids to origami, although it is not a project as such, as there is a lot of folding involved. While this project does not require a lot of precision, it is still a great project to practice folding.
We ran out of green cardstock when we made this, BUT we thought it would be even prettier if the background paper was a grass green.
What you need
Vibrating eye patch or glasses optional.
Start folding the brown paper – accordion fold the entire length.
The older the child, the thinner the fold.
Fold all the way to the other end. Make sure the folds are sharp – we do this by running a craft stick over them, pressing the craft stick down.
When you get to the other side, fold the folded paper in half.
Place a sheet of beige paper between the folds (where the paper is folded in half).
Draw the hedgehog’s head.
Cut off the top.
Draw a nose and eyes (or use fake eyes or pendulum eye patches) on either side of the head.
Apply glue to brown paper (at the last fold). Stick it on the hedgehog’s head.
Apply glue to the hedgehog’s head (at the end).
Press the two halves of the folded brown paper together.
Hold them together to let the glue set. Wait a moment for the glue to dry completely.
Take a piece of construction paper. Cut it into smaller pieces if needed. Fold it in half (fold it into a clear shape with a craft stick).
Take the hedgehog and apply glue to the outside of the folded brown paper.
Insert into card and close card to let glue set.
Press firmly and wait for the glue to dry completely before opening the card.
Once the glue is dry, your hedgehog pop-up card is ready! You can add a personal message and make it a great birthday card for someone.
