Is your printable hedgehog puppet feeling lonely? Need some woodland animal company? We’re back with another woodland dweller – the fox. While these two animals might not exactly get along in the wild (we know) when it comes to pretend play, they can be the best of friends!

Like all the other printable puppets in this series, they also come in both color and black and white versions that your child (or you) can color and decorate to their heart’s content. We always recommend using glitter accents to make these puppets sparkle and shine (glitter glue is recommended).

Ready to add these to your collection? Let’s do it.

You can find the template at the end of the tutorial.

What you need:

  • Our printable fox template (you can get it at the end of this tutorial)
  • printer
  • printing paper – we recommend using thicker printing paper or even photo paper to make the puppet more durable
  • drag
  • glue
  • markers or other coloring material if you will be printing our black and white template

Or follow this step-by-step guide

Print out the template. You can find it at the end of this guide. As with most of our printable templates, we recommend printing on thicker printer paper, but regular printer paper will work just as well.

If you decide to use our black and white template, it is best to color it before you start cutting and assembling. Of course, you can color it later.

Once all the pieces are colored and dry (if you used wet markers), cut the strips. The length of the strips is arbitrary, if you need to make them shorter (smaller hands) cut them shorter, if you need to make them longer (larger hands) cut them longer.

Before cutting the stem, fold along the dotted lines. Now cut out the stem.

Once you have cut the stem, reinforce the folds – make sure they are nice and sharp. We like to run a craft stick over the folds as this will make them really sharp.

Fold in half down the middle, clear side out. Glue to strap.

Let the glue dry. Slide it into your hand and the puppet is ready to play.

How awesome! We certainly hope your printable fox puppets get a lot of play. There are so many imaginative scenarios that can happen with the help of these AND they are sure to make story time a lot more fun.
