Super colorful and super fun Valentine’s Day craft ideas.

How to make sticky tape for Valentine’s Day cards

What you need:

  • pencil
  • white cardboard or art paper
  • masking tape or washi tape
  • paint: craft paint, acrylic paint or watercolor
  • paintbrush

Step-by-step instructions

Fold a sheet of white cardboard in half to make a card.

If you make these cards in class, we recommend preparing this step the day before.

If your child can already write on their own, have them write the word LOVE (capitalization is best for this word) in pencil on the card.

If you’re working with younger children, this is another step we recommend doing first.

Now, it’s time to remove the masking tape or washi tape (washi tape is a better choice for younger children).

Ask your child to use tape to create the letters, carefully going over the marked letters with a pencil.

LOVE is an easy word and perfect for Valentine’s Day, but you can also have the kids make up any other word.

Bring on the paint! Whether you use craft paint, acrylic or watercolor, the choice is yours.

It’s time to get messy. Paint your fingers…

…and start pressing!

The more colorful the fingerprint, the better!

There are so many colors that can be used, you can let the kids choose their favorites or choose a color palette that feels Valentine’s Day-sy.

The red fingerprint makes the card pop out.

Once the paint has dried, it’s time for the big reveal!

Ask your child to gently peel off the tape one letter at a time to reveal the masterpiece underneath.

Children will watch in awe as the letters magically appear, surrounded by vibrant rainbow fingerprints.

And there you have it – a beautiful tape against a Valentine’s Day card that will warm the heart of anyone lucky enough to receive it.

Don’t forget to write a message inside and have your child sign it inside before sharing the love!
