With this card, kids can write a hidden message or draw anything they like for dad to see.

There are mustaches and stars all over the front page of the card. The last page is decorated with three different ties – which of course need to be colored in with crayons or markers.

For the pull-out mechanism, you can choose between three different finishes.

Are you ready to surprise Dad? Let’s start making your unique card!

How to Make a Father’s Day Card with a Hidden Message

What you need:

  • our printable Father’s Day card template with hidden message (find at the end of this tutorial)
  • paper (use thicker printing paper to keep the card more durable, although regular paper is fine too)
  • printer
  • drag
  • glue
  • coloring materials
  • scoring tool (or simply something similar at hand)

Are you ready to make card number 1 for dad? Let’s get started!

Follow the step-by-step instructions below

Print out the Father’s Day card with the hidden message you’ll find at the end of this step-by-step tutorial.

Color the pattern.

Use scissors to cut the card – be careful not to cut the edge of the cover.

You will also need to cut out the “pull out” mechanism – you will find it on the second page of the pattern.

The card has a “CUT” section to reveal your hidden message.

You can fold the first page of the card in half to make cutting easier.

After cutting out the hidden message, fold the entire card lengthwise.

We like to use a craft stick and run it through the folds to make them really crispy.

Continue folding around the card over the “GLUE” edges.

Install the “pull out” mechanism.

Once the mechanism is in place, apply glue to the wings.

Use your fingers to press the front and back pages of the Father’s Day card together.

Glue the end of the pull out mechanism…

…and write a hidden message for your dad.

Your Father’s Day card is ready.
