Valentine’s Day is a holiday where we want to show our loved ones how much they mean to us and what better way than giving a lovely and fun gift for the occasion.

We really love making simple crafts and this is definitely one of them – an easy and fun Valentine’s Day card with a hidden message.

The card has a pull-out mechanism that reveals a message when pulled. Your child can write whatever they want to express their feelings on the card, to make it unique.

And as they say, “A special card for a special person.” And it is true.

Children can choose between three different parts to glue onto the mechanism – a heart, lips (a kiss) and a dove carrying an olive branch.

Ready to make a card? Let’s get creative!

Or follow the step-by-step instructions

Print out our Valentine’s card template with hidden message (you can get it at the end of this tutorial).

Color the heart and background with your best marker. We decided on a blue-red combination.

Use scissors to cut the “sleeve” of the Valentine’s Day card.

You need to cut out the hidden message “window” – fold the template in half.

Fold it again as shown in the picture below to hold the cut out and cut out.

The front of the card will look like this.

Use a paper cutter to create sharp creases all around the edges of the paper.

Continue by cutting out the mechanical parts from the second page.

Apply glue to all the wings.

It’s time to attach the mechanism to the card. Place the zipper between the two flaps – it should stick out a little so you can pull it out to reveal the hidden message.

Press the front facing into the fabric edges to seal them together.

Use a scoring tool or press firmly with your finger around the card to ensure the cards are stuck together tightly.

Now you need to apply some glue to the pull out mechanism (the marked area).

Place the image of your choice and paste it into the marked area.

Now all you need to do is pull the string that is sticking out of the card and write your hidden message.

Your Valentine card with your message is ready.
