How to draw a dragon step by step

Step 1

Start by drawing the head. This shape is easy to master – it’s like drawing a pear lying flat on the ground. It doesn’t have to be perfect either.

Step 2

Next it’s time to draw the horns and the bottom of the mouth. One of the horns will go over the shape you drew earlier and that’s okay, we’ll “fix” it without the eraser.

Step 3

Draw lines on the horn to add texture (and hide the lines). Also draw a nostril and an eye.

Step 4

Draw a curve starting from the head. Draw a smaller front leg and a slightly larger back leg.

Step 5

Starting at the top, draw a curve all the way to the top of the first leg. Now continue the line, starting from the other end of the front leg all the way to the bottom of the back leg. Finally, draw a curve from the back leg all the way to the top curve.

Step 6

Add another set of legs. Draw the finishing touches on the tail.

Also start drawing the wings.

Step 7

From the wing, draw two curves.

Another curve runs across the body to form the dragon’s belly.

Step 8

Finish the wings by drawing more curves.

Step 9

Almost done. Draw another wing at the back.

Step 10

All that’s left to do is draw lines on the belly, add a few circles on the body for more texture if you want, and draw flames coming out of the dragon’s mouth.

Step 11

You have learned how to draw a dragon! Congratulations! Now all that is left to do is color your dragon however you like.
