How To Make a Paper Apple Card

Is your child ready to go back to school? Let the children learn how to make a paper apple card; it will come as a big surprise to their teachers.

This simple apple craft can be done by children from preschool age, but they will need the help of an adult or an older sibling.

You don’t need much to make this craft – just paper, scissors and glue. Even though we created a red apple on a black background, you don’t have to limit yourself to those either. Any color is suitable for the background, and apples can also be yellow or green.

How to make Apple cards with paper

What you need:

  • black (or other) construction paper for tags
  • Regular red printing or construction paper (or other)
  • green paper for leaves
  • brown paper
  • glue
  • drag
  • optional: our apple sketch template

Step-by-step instructions

Start by folding a black sheet (or half sheet) of a letter or A4 sized sheet of paper in half. Run your fingers along the crease to make it nice and crisp.

Next, create an apple shape. You can cut outlines from the template, or you can fold small pieces of red (or other) paper in half and draw your own outline.

Draw the outline of the apple.

Cut out the apples. Make sure all the apples are roughly the same size.

Let’s start making cards. Apply glue to half of the apple and stick it on the card, pressing firmly to secure the glue.

How many layers to use is entirely up to you – younger children will be happy with fewer layers while older children may want to add more layers.

When you get to the last layer, apply glue to the apple and if desired, apply a little glue to the card (where the apple will be glued).

Close the card and press down firmly to secure the glue. Wait a minute to make sure the glue has set (you can weigh it with a book).

Cut a small piece of brown paper for the stem and leaf shape from the green paper.

Paste it on the card.

All has been done! Now your child knows how to make an apple card out of paper. You can also ask them to add a note with a metallic marker or chalk to add a personal touch to the card.
