How to make a paper top

What you need:

  • colored pencils
  • drag
  • heavy cardboard
  • glue
  • wool
  • a toothpick or any other tool with a pointed tip

Let’s get started!

Step by step instructions

Print the spinning top shape from the provided template and cut it out.

If you choose to use the black and white version, simply color the spinner with colored pencils.

Measure and cut a circle from thick cardboard.

Apply a little glue to both sides of the cardboard and glue the circles on.

Use a toothpick to poke two small holes in each side of the center of the circle.

Punch the hole carefully.

They should be about 1 cm apart.

Thread the yarn through the holes…

…and tie a tight knot on one side.

The yarn should be 35cm to 40cm long.

Finished!

Now the hard part is how to start filming.

Start making quick circular motions with your hands to twist/twist the yarn in quick motions.

Once you start filming, relax your movements and begin bringing your hands closer together and further apart to recharge the camera.

You will be mesmerized as you watch the colors and shapes blend together as it rotates.

What an interesting project, huh?

You can make more of these spinning toys and give them to your friends so everyone can play and have a laugh.
