I have a confession… I’m a button hoarder. It’s time to use some of my buttons for a project or two – like this ladybug button art craft that kids can easily make.
So get out the buttons and let’s get creative!

Buttons can be expensive, yes… If you are buying them for clothing. BUT if you are buying them for crafts and don’t mind them being all the same size, you can get them for a pretty penny. Like at the dollar store… Or even better, buy a variety from ebay.
Ladybug Button Craft Art
What you need
- red buttons come in various sizes (a few are fine)
- black buttons (actually I didn’t have enough so I painted them)
- glue dots (or string and needle if you’re going to sew them)
- green craft foam (or other work surface)
- pencil
Start by drawing a ladybug on your work surface with a pencil (or marker). You can also color in the surface.
Glue the buttons – glue is really perfect for this project, just glue a few buttons onto the tape and use as needed.
Glue the buttons to the foam (the glue sticks well but is still a little runny so you can easily squeeze the buttons together).
Working your way up with the red buttons, create the ladybug’s body (cover the entire body in red, adding black spots at the ends to give it a raised look). Once you have all the red buttons glued on, create the black head and antennae.
Done! You now have a cute and easy ladybug craft to display.
