How to make Valentine’s Day crafts Lovebug

What you need:

  • drag
  • glue
  • cardboard (pink)
  • colored paper (red, pink, green, yellow, light blue, light blue, and purple)
  • black lining
  • sharp eyes

Step-by-step instructions

Take pink (or other colored) cardstock and have the kids fold it in half.

Step 1

Turn it so that the fold is at the top – this forms the base of the love bug card, which will open upward.

Step 2

Have your child fold a piece of red paper in half.

Step 3

Ask them to draw half a heart on it. You can also use our heart shapes instead.

Step 4

Then, cut them along the drawn line to create a heart shape for the lovebird’s head.

Step 5

Tape it onto the folded cardboard, close to the edge.

Step 6

Continue to make hearts; you can make them a little smaller than the first one.

Apply glue to only half of each heart, then attach them from the top to the bottom of the body.

We used pink, green, yellow, light blue, light blue and purple for the body but kids can use any color they love.

Step 7

Draw whiskers on the bug’s head with a black pen.

Step 8

Also draw a pair of legs under each heart on the body.

Step 9

Next is the mouth – have children draw a happy smile on the bug’s face with a black pen.

Step 10

Stick googly eyes on their heads to make their beloved bug come to life.

Step 11

All has been done!

Your child created a colorful Valentine’s Day card!

Step 12

The final step is to ask children to write a message inside the card, adding a personal touch to their work.
