How to make a moving spider craft

What you need:

  • black construction paper
  • Googly eyes
  • paper straws
  • tape
  • glue
  • drag
  • wool (or other string, thread…)

Follow the step by step instructions (Video tutorial at the end)

Cut a circle (or oval) out of black cardstock.

We created this product by sketching around a glass cup with a pencil and cutting it out.

Cut 8 thin strips of black cardboard to make the spider legs.

Glue the legs to the black construction paper ring.

Take the straws and cut them into two pieces (they need to fit around the spider’s body).

Apply glue to the middle of the spider’s body and stick the paper straw in.

If it’s easier, you can thread yarn or string through the paper straws before gluing them on.

Use tape to secure the straw.

Tie the two strings together at one end.

Flip the spider over and add bulging eyes.

Hang the string (tied together part) on a doorknob or wherever, and pull the two ends apart so the spider flies up and back together to go down.
