This easy-to-set up straw and ball toss obstacle course will keep kids (and adults) entertained for quite a while! It’s great to play alone and even better to play with friends. Additionally, chances are you already have everything you need to set up the game in your home, and even if you don’t, you can still modify the game to work with what you have.
Let’s do a straw obstacle course!
You can place this game on a table or on the floor (a large piece of paper will work too!). You’ll need some washi tape or other colored tape, a straw (if you don’t have one, kids can blow the balloon just with their mouth), a few pom poms (or just roll paper into a balloon). You can also add obstacles like a building block ramp!
The dollar store usually has a few rolls of tape and cute pom poms (I really enjoyed the sparkly ones we got but to be honest they were kind of weird to the touch – it’s possible though only me).
Done! Let’s start doing the course. Use one color to create a path – the rule we used when playing this game was that the ball could touch the blue tape but if it went sideways then “you’re out!” and have to go back to the checkpoint (for the checkpoint we use dot tape).
We wanted to make the last part of the track “difficult” so we added red obstacles where you cannot touch the ball – if you do, you will be disqualified and have to return to the checkpoint .
The building block jump is truly the highlight of the track – and it worked like a charm – we had to use some tape to secure it.
There are many ways you can play this game – take turns, each player plays the track themselves and counts who finishes faster or moves the least, there is a rule that you can hit the poms other poms and push them off the track, play in groups… The sky is the limit!
