Preschoolers and kindergarteners especially love boxing so they will love this project.

For younger children, we recommend adapting this idea by using fewer circles and using as much punch as possible as this will make it easier for them to grasp with their small hands.

Now back to our little caterpillar. We have a few caterpillar craft ideas that we have shared and a few more to come. Aren’t these adorable little caterpillars adorable?

We are big fans and since there are quite a few great books about caterpillars out there we thought this craft would be a great addition to those books.

This can be used as part of the butterfly life cycle, as all other parts of the life cycle can also be made of paper.

Ready? Let’s make some cute stuff!

What you need;

  • Paper comes in a variety of colours – we think green, red and yellow work well but there really are no rules!
  • Round hole punch – larger size makes this craft easier
  • Glue – Glue is our choice for paper projects
  • Wiggle Eye Patches – Kids LOVE these
  • black marker
  • drag

Wiggle eye patches, while fun, are completely optional for this project. Glasses are just as fun and simply drawing on the eyes with a black marker will do the trick.

Start by punching out lots of paper circles. We made our craft caterpillar’s body green and head red (we made another one with a yellow head). Punch, punch, punch! The more paper circles, the merrier (actually the caterpillar gets longer).
