How to make winter window crafts using doily

What you need:

  • drag
  • glue
  • white hand towel
  • paper (to protect the crafting table)
  • construction paper (white and brown)
  • watercolor paint or other drawing supplies, such as tempera paints or craft paints (blue and pink)
  • paintbrush
  • white marker

Step-by-step instructions

Start with a sheet of white cardstock or art paper.

Step 1

Remember to protect the surface underneath as things can get messy.

Step 2

Have your child use watercolors or other drawing materials to create a winter sky.

Step 3

We think the combination of blue and light purple would be perfect for this scene.

Step 4

Let the paint dry, then have your child draw snow-white dots with paint or a white chalk marker.

Step 5

Cut strips of brown construction paper to make window frames. Cardboard will look even better, but can be difficult for young children to cut (though you can prepare it in advance).

Glue the top and bottom frame pieces.

Step 6

Then attach the side frame sections.

Step 7

Glue two strips of brown paper in a diagonal pattern to complete the window.

Step 8

Prepare a white hand cloth.

Step 9

Cut the white doily in half, then cut the same halves in half again.

These doily parts will act as window curtains.

We will paste them in the next step.

Step 10

Have children tape pieces of doily curtains to the top corners of the windows to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Step 11

Is it all done? Great job!
