This paper plate Santa hat craft is perfect for the classroom as it can easily double as a party hat. Ready to get your Christmas party started?
This craft is an improved version of our paper plate Christmas tree, the idea was very spontaneous and we think it’s pretty awesome.
What you need
Paint the paper plate red. Let the paint dry before continuing.
Cut a paper plate in half. One paper plate will make two Santa hats.
Make a cone from a paper plate craft. You can use glue (you will need to hold it tight for a while for the glue to set) or you can use a stapler (not recommended for young children, always use adult supervision).
Now that you have your cone, apply a generous amount of glue to the top and press a cotton ball onto the top. Let the glue dry a bit before continuing. Apply a generous amount of glue to the bottom of the cone, all the way around.
Tear the cotton balls into strips and glue them to the cone. Make sure you get all the way around. Let the glue dry before attaching to the head.
Tip: You can use a hole punch to punch two holes and add a few nails to secure the hat on your little head.
Don’t they look so festive? We’re sure this would be a great craft project at a classroom Christmas party and kids would love to wear them. You could even have them make a fake Santa beard to go with the hats. You could even make some green hats to have a group of elves at the party too!
With thousands of printable crafts, activities, worksheets, coloring pages, and drawing tutorials, you’ll always have the resources you need at your fingertips. Perfect for parents and teachers alike!
