This paper craft shooting star for kids is amazing! This is a fun project that can be done year-round, but it makes a great Christmas craft as well as a craft to make in August when the meteor shower is easier to see ( Perseids).
We also think this project pairs well with the nursery rhyme Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Get the whole class involved and create the ultimate classroom wall art display.

You can use our template designed specifically for this craft (you can get it as part of our membership) or use one of our free star sketch stencils me to do it. This idea can also be used to create the coolest bulletin board; Just have kids add their photo inside the star and pair it with a catchy slogan like “We’re taking photos for the stars.”
What you need:
Print the template – if your child wants to color the star independently, print the black and white version.
Ask them to cut out a star shape.
Place the star shape on the background and draw around one side of the star to mark its position (this is optional).
Then, apply glue to the part.
Glue onto the paper strips.
Have the children glue each one onto the cardboard. We used six wider bands for the shooting star’s tail—yellow, orange, and light orange bands.
Starting with one of the outer strips of paper, have your child make a few rounds.
At the end of each strip, apply a small amount of glue.
Then, glue it to the cardboard so the swirl stays in place.
Ask them to repeat the process with each strip.
The last step is to glue the paper star on!
All done! The shooting star has taken off!
