If you’ve never paper woven with your kids, here’s your chance! This paper woven Christmas tree card is a great project for the classroom or to do at home.
One advantage of weaving is that it is inexpensive and can actually help develop fine motor skills. Plus, as your child weaves, they also develop hand-eye coordination skills.
This woven paper Christmas tree card is even more special because it is homemade.
This means you don’t have to run to the store, you can make your own cards and send them to your loved ones. The really great thing about this tree craft is that you can also use it as a Christmas decoration!
What you need:
Take a piece of blue cardstock and cut it into a rectangle the size of a card. Then you can fold it in half.
Take a piece of red cardboard and cut it out and glue it on top of the blue piece of paper.
As you can see, it makes a beautiful backdrop for a Christmas tree.
Let’s start the weaving part as this is the most complicated part of the craft. Choose two pieces of construction paper, both of different colors.
Don’t cut all the way down, start cutting straight down the paper.
Do this for both sets of papers.
Apply a small amount of glue to a section of cardboard.
Now glue the remaining piece of construction paper to it. Make sure they go in opposite directions.
Fold the pieces of fabric over to make weaving easier and to keep them out of the way as you weave.
Now you can start weaving!
Finish weaving until it looks like the image below.
Now you will cut the tree template.
Paste the tree template.
Place it on the woven paper you made.
Continue cutting the tree and weaving together.
As you can see, the tree looks gorgeous and is ready to be included in the card.
Take a small brown rectangle and glue it to the red and blue paper to make the tree base.
As you can see, the tree is taking shape. Now you can add the star to the top of the tree.
You can make this woven paper Christmas tree card in many different colors. Have fun with it!
