Continuing with turkey crafts and this time we made turkey leaf and pine cone crafts!
If you haven’t seen our toilet paper turkey yet, check it out because it also uses natural materials.
Pine Cone Turkey Craft
Raw materials
- pine cone
- leaf
- brown and yellow paper
- Googly eyes
- glue
- drag
- play dough (optional)
How to do it
Start by choosing a nice pine cone that can stand on its own. Choose leaves of different colours and sizes and cut off the stems – this will make it much easier.
Start with the largest leaves. Add glue to the bottom of the leaves and slide them into the hole in the pine cone. Continue until you have created a turkey tail arch. Continue with smaller leaves and slide them into the hole (one level higher) than the previous leaves.
We had 3 colors and sizes of leaves so we filled 3 “levels” of pine cone holes.
If your turkey becomes a little wobbly because of the leaves (ours didn’t but I feel like it might have if the pinecone was different), you can make a stand for it out of playdough.
Cut a circle with a neck out of brown paper and add googly eyes and a beak. Add glue to the “neck” area and slide onto the top of the pinecone.
More natural crafts
Like this? Why not make some pine cone hedgehogs too? Or maybe leaf hedgehogs – super easy and adorable.
