Pool Noodle Word Search – Activities for Kids

There are 101 great ways to make pool noodles – they’re just as fun as they were intended to be and you can create loads of great crafts and activities like this pool noodle word search!

Do a search for the word pool noodle

You can use up the float that has served its purpose and get started on this learning activity!

You will need:

  • one or two swimming floats (more colors will look better)
  • sticky letters (or a permanent marker)
  • craft knife or regular knife
  • pen and paper to play

Cut the pool noodle into even pieces – just large enough that you can easily stick a letter on it. Cut as many as you like – the more, the more “replay value” this activity will have.

Now that you have a large amount of cut pasta, start gluing the letters onto them. 4 per piece works great! I recommend having two vowels for each part because it makes it easier to form words this way.

Once you’ve created all of your “pool noodle blocks,” it’s time to play!

Let your child randomly choose 3 and stack them on top of each other. Now let them find as many words as possible by rotating the blocks and finding letter combinations!

You can also use a timer if there are more players and you want this to be a competitive game (whoever finds the most words in the allotted time is the winner).

Once children master finding 3 letters, you can take it up a level and add a 4th block – asking them to find 4-letter words.

You can even try with 5 but since it’s not easy to find the words, this activity might get boring too soon.

Happy swimming pool noodle word search!
