How to make Easter cards with stamped potatoes
What you need:
- potato
- knife
- colorful pompoms
- pencil
- glue
- paint
- paint brush
- white cardboard
- black manufacturer
Fun tip: instead of using potatoes, you can also use Peeps as stamps.
Step-by-step instructions
Carefully cut (adults only, unless you are using child-safe equipment) the potatoes in half.
Draw a simple bunny shape on the flat surface of half a potato. If you have a bunny cookie cutter, you can use that too.
Now, using a cutter (adults only), carefully cut around the bunny outline drawn on the potato.
Once you’ve cut the bunny outline, make slits around the potato.
Then, peel off the excess potato around the bunny shape to make a stamp.
Take a piece of white cardstock and fold it in half horizontally to make the base for the Easter card.
You can have your child dip the potato in paint or use a paint brush to cover the potato with paint.
Carefully press the painted potato stamp onto the cardstock to create a bunny print.
Repeat the drawing and stamping process with different colors to create a vibrant Easter card.
Make as many rabbits as you like. This technique is also fun when you make your own wrapping paper.
We used pink, light green and purple paints and created three bunnies.
Wait for the paint to dry.
Use glue to attach the colorful pom-poms to the bunny print on the card like cotton tails.
This adds a fun and tactile element to the card.
Finally, help your child write a heartfelt Easter message on the card.
Whether it is “Happy Easter” or another Easter wish, it will add a special touch to their work.
Once the card is complete, it can be shared with friends and family! Your child will be proud to show off their handmade Easter card.
Happy Easter everyone!
