We have a fun set of printable animal envelopes and keep getting asked when we’ll be adding more envelope designs to our site, so what better time than right before Halloween to feature these monster designs.
They come with a variety of decorative accessories – tentacles, horns, extra legs, and more – to take them to the next level of silliness! You can add these accessories or just have a monster envelope without them. The choice is yours (although if you’re going to mail them, we recommend the version without the accessories).
As mentioned, there is a pre-colored version but we really hope your kids will enjoy the black and white sketch version that they can color themselves. There are many ways to create a crazy looking monster like that, and not just by using colors, glitter and other materials can be added too.
We hope these templates will inspire your child to start with a “blank sheet of paper”, sketch out an envelope on a piece of paper and begin designing their own monster creations.

What you need
- our printable template (you can get it at the end of this tutorial)
- paper
- printer
- drag
- glue
- coloring materials
Any other fun elements are welcome – glitter, pom poms…

Print out our monster envelope templates – either the sketched version or the pre-colored version (or both). Regular printer paper will work, we recommend thicker paper if you plan on using markers as they tend to absorb the ink and crease the paper.
If your child decides to go with the sketch and color version, have them color all of the monster body parts and envelopes before cutting them out. This will make coloring easier.
Once you’re done coloring, or if you’re using a pre-colored version, cut out the envelope (and other body pieces).
Fold the envelope, scoring along the creases to crisp them up and applying glue to the edges.
Decide what weird body parts (or lack thereof) would make your monster awesome and add them to the envelope. The more the merrier.
All that’s left to do is add a personal note to the inside of your monster envelope and mail or gift it to friends and family. They also make great party invitations!
