This year, we’re sharing a ton of fun DIY Christmas card ideas because we really think giving (or sending) a traditional card still feels warm and cozy.

Making your own Christmas cards is also a very rewarding experience for children, as they create a lovely little card and give it to those who are important to them. The process also encourages writing, as there is nothing better than writing your holiday wishes on a card you have made.

Rudolph the Reindeer is one of our favorite Christmas characters, so we’re starting this year’s card collection with the easiest reindeer Christmas card for kids! Just a few cuts and a little glue and you’ll have the prettiest Christmas card ever!

Ready? Let’s make one!

How to make a reindeer Christmas card

What you need:

  • craft paper for the card base (you can also buy blank cards, perfect for preschool or kindergarten projects)
  • light brown construction paper
  • dark brown construction paper (for younger children, can be substituted with dark brown crayons)
  • red construction paper
  • wobbly eye patches or googly eyes
  • glue
  • drag

Glitter is always a welcome addition, especially to a reindeer nose, to make it really shine.

Follow the step-by-step instructions

Here’s how we got our cards… First, we fold a letter/A4 paper in half and cut it in half. Then, we fold that half in half again. Small and cute.

Make sure the folds are sharp.

Now draw the base of your card on brown paper.Cut rectangle.

Cut out a triangle.

To make it easier – fold (don’t fold) the rectangle in half lengthwise. Gently fold one end to mark the middle. Unfold.

Now cut from the bottom of the rectangle to the middle of the section you marked.

Fold the top of the triangle down (not all the way to the bottom).

Wrinkles.

Apply glue to the bottom of the triangle.

And paste it on the card.

Cut the gauze out of dark brown cardstock.

Stick them on the card.

In addition, you can also draw them with crayons, markers…

Apply a little glue to the tip of the triangle.

Glue it to the body of the bear. You can leave the head curved a little bit as it creates a nice little 3D effect.

Cut a small circle out of red paper to make the reindeer’s nose.

Stick it on top of the “triangle head”.

Add two eye patches (or fake eyes, or painted eyes) and your super simple reindeer Christmas card is complete.

Happy Holidays!
